Chair Home

if a nursing home patient on a wheel chair needs to go to the hospital, and the family members can’t go ?
with the ill person, will the nursing home arrange for somebody to be with the patient? I live 7 hours away from my mother, and can’t go with her most of the time. The nursing home is asking me to pay for the attendant to go with my mother. But I have no means to take this financial responsibility . What am I to do? My mother is a cancer patient and is in a wheel chair. If I’ll refuse to pay, who will take care of her?
They can put her in an ambulance and send her that way and she does not need anyone to be in attendance. Her medicare insurance will pick up this tab. Otherwise, there are wheelchair vans that do medical transports also and they too bill medicare for this. It is not mandatory that someone have a person with them when they go to the hospital because a health history and medication list is required of them to send along with any patient they send to an ER.
