How do I take off the stain I just put on my oak night stand and paint it black? and what type of black paint

I don’t know what kind of black paint to buy.

You can paint over the stain with an enamel paint; (a light sanding will help long-tem paint adhesion) gloss or semi-gloss is a matter of what you prefer. The hardware and paint stores have samples.
